The Abrahamic Covenant Through The Eyes Of The LORD Himself

Genesis 17:4-7 NKJ - 4 As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. 5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you. 7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

Did GOD bless and make a covenant with Abraham because he was perfect in every way?

Not at all. He was chosen by GOD Himself to fulfill a plan that would redeem all of humanity. There were no Israelites at this point. The Israelites came out of Abraham according to GOD'S promise. Abraham was never a perfect partner for GOD through their relationship, but GOD was faithful to His promise, nonetheless. Abraham was by no means perfect and did not always trust in GOD'S promises, but GOD, being perfect, would be faithful to the covenant He established with Abraham.

It was GODS faithfulness that sustained Abraham and his lineage. GODS faithfulness would draw Abraham to faithfulness. It is through the Abrahamic Covenant that we would see the Saviour of the world being born in Bethlehem. If GOD was not faithful to His promise to Abraham, there would be no Christ, and in turn, no salvation for mankind. But because God was and is faithful, we have eternal life through Jesus Christ! GOD bless.
