The Good Shepherd VS The Bad Shepherd

Ezekiel 34:6-10 NKJ - 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.”

 7 ‘Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: 8 “As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock”— 9 therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the Lord! 10 Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.”

There are descriptions in the bible about a bad shepherd and a good shepherd. A good shepherd feeds, leads, and takes care of the sheep. A bad shepherd does not. It is a good indication that something has gone wrong when it is the sheep who feeds the shepherd.

Jesus, the GOOD Shepherd, has a problem with bad shepherds. He warns all the bad shepherds about the consequences of being a bad shepherd. The sheep that have been placed in their care have been exploited and devoured, all for the sake of satisfying the gluttony of the bad shepherds. Yet, it is the LORD Who says that He shall be the one to deliver the sheep from the bad shepherds.

When leaders within church communities fail to lead a flock, but instead, choose to devour and take advantage of them, these are the same shepherds to whom God has issued such warnings. Many people have had bad experiences at certain churches or with certain Christians. However, the Bible makes a clear distinction between bad shepherds and The Good Shepherd. Christ is the ultimate example of how shepherd ought to be. Those who follow His example are the ones who are led by Him. GOD bless.
